A small company, on purpose
BVB Media is a software company founded by Bas van Beek in 2000. A quarter of a century on, we’re still deliberately small. Bas oversees everything himself, from the first architecture decision to the final delivery to the partnership that follows. We work with a limited number of partners so that when we’re building for your business, you get our full attention — not a fraction of it split across ten other projects.
That focus isn’t a marketing line. It’s the whole point. Fewer clients, deeper partnerships, better software.
Why we exist
We’re here to help entrepreneurs succeed — by sharing twenty-five years of experience and software that’s already proven itself, built so that both sides stay free. We build every product for our own business first, and only offer it to a partner once it’s proven in daily use. The conviction is simple: if a piece of software isn’t good enough for us to run our own company on, it’s not good enough to hand to you. So you’re never the experiment. And you keep everything — the full picture and the knowledge to run it yourself — because we earn your partnership through value, never through dependency.
That belief shapes everything — how we choose partners, how we build, and why we’d rather give an honest no than a disappointing yes. How it works in practice — why building for ourselves first means you pay for value instead of risk, why the partnership compounds, and why you own everything — is its own story. You can read it on how we work.
Where we're headed
We build for impact that compounds. The best software isn’t a one-time job — it’s a system that keeps paying off, year after year, until one good decision has multiplied many times over. That’s where we’re headed: helping founders build businesses that grow, through proven products, honest advice, and knowledge shared freely — while keeping the independence that twenty-five years of building has taught us to value. When our partners grow, the work grows with them.
Impact like that only holds when quality is built into the system itself — the architecture, the documentation, the automation — not dependent on pressure, luck, or one person remembering everything. We build so every partner can stand on their own. The day we step back, your business keeps running without missing a beat — and keeps growing. And the friendship stays.
A track record that compounds
For more than fifteen years, our focus was entirely on e-commerce. We built TYPO3 Multishop — a complete e-commerce platform — and at its height it powered more than 500 webshops around the world, in countries we’d never set foot in. Everything we know about building software that has to run a real business, day in and day out, we learned there.
The pattern has always been the same: strong software combined with strong entrepreneurship creates growth that compounds. Across partnerships that ran a decade or longer, we’ve watched businesses grow many times over — one of our first partners grew roughly tenfold, from a single store to more than ten across the Netherlands. We never claim that growth as ours alone. The entrepreneur did the entrepreneurship; we made sure the software never got in the way. Both sides did the work.
That’s what keeps us going after all these years — not chasing new logos, but watching a partner we’ve worked with for a decade grow into something neither of us imagined at the start. The relationship outlasts the technology, and in our case it usually outlasts the project too. Most of our partnerships ended with the friendship intact.
What we stand for
Twenty-five years of building, distilled into six values — split the way our slogan is. Built right is how we engineer. Built to outlast is how we partner.
Built right — how we engineer
- Quality compounds. Doing it properly is an investment that pays off for years, not a cost. Simple systems that stay easy to maintain beat clever ones that don’t.
- We build it for ourselves first. Every product solves a real problem in our own business before it’s ever offered to a partner — so by the time it reaches you, it already works.
- Focus beats breadth. We do fewer things, exceptionally well, and put your attention on what actually needs it instead of drowning you in noise.
Built to outlast — how we partner
- Radical honesty. We tell the truth — to partners and to ourselves — finish what we start, and own our mistakes openly.
- Generous partnership. We let others succeed, even when it costs us something. Fewer clients, deeper partnerships, and a friendship that outlasts the project.
- Freedom for both sides. You keep everything you need to run your software without us. Independence isn’t a clause in a contract — it’s a genuine commitment.
The team
Bas van Beek — founder and systems architect. Bas oversees everything, from the first architecture decision to delivery to the partnership itself. His story — who he is, and why the company is built the way it is — is on the founder page.
Widy — senior developer, alongside BVB Media since 2005. Twenty years of loyalty and deep knowledge of every system we’ve ever built. When you need continuity, Widy is the reason it never stops.
Monique — keeps the books and the business running smoothly behind the scenes.
A lean team, by design — backed by AI-powered workflows that let us deliver results you’d expect from a much larger one.
What our partners say
“In all the years Bas helped us grow, there was never a moment he couldn’t solve the problem.”
“Bas doesn’t work for you, he thinks with you. And he delivers more than you ask for.”
“Rarely met someone with such a combination of technical depth and down-to-earth communication.”
