A small company, on purpose
BVB Media is a software company founded by Bas van Beek in 2000. A quarter of a century on, we’re still deliberately small, because focus is what makes the work good. Bas sets the architecture and holds the standard; a steady team that’s built alongside us since 2005, a documented system, and the products we run our own company on carry it through. We work with a select number of partners and clients so that when we’re building, you get our full focus, not a fraction of it split across ten other projects.
That focus isn’t a marketing line. It’s the whole point: when we build for you, you get our full attention.
Why we exist
We’re here to help entrepreneurs succeed by sharing twenty-five years of experience and software that’s already proven itself. Increasingly we reach those entrepreneurs through partners: companies that put their brand on our products, sell them in their own market, and support their own customers, while we stay focused on building. We build every product for our own business first, and only offer it once it’s proven in daily use. The conviction is simple: if a piece of software isn’t good enough for us to run our own company on, it’s not good enough to offer to you. So you’re never the experiment.
That belief shapes everything: how we choose clients, how we build, and why we’d rather give a straight no than a disappointing yes. How it works in practice is its own story: why building for ourselves first means you pay for value instead of risk, and why the partnership compounds. You can read it on the how we build page.
Where we're headed
We build for impact that compounds. The best software isn’t a one-time job. It’s a system that keeps paying off, year after year, until one good decision has multiplied many times over. That’s where we’re headed: helping founders build businesses that grow, on proven products and straight advice. When our clients grow, the work grows with them.
Impact like that only holds when quality is built into the system, not into one person remembering everything. That’s what lets a partnership run for years, and in our case the friendship usually outlasts the project.
A track record that compounds
For more than fifteen years, our focus was entirely on e-commerce. We built TYPO3 Multishop, a complete e-commerce platform. At its height it powered more than 500 webshops around the world, in countries we’d never set foot in. Everything we know about building software that has to run a real business, day in and day out, we learned there.
The pattern has always been the same: strong software combined with strong entrepreneurship creates growth that compounds. Across partnerships that ran a decade or longer, we’ve watched businesses grow many times over. One of our first clients grew roughly tenfold, from a single store to more than ten across the Netherlands. We never claim that growth as ours alone. The entrepreneur did the entrepreneurship; we made sure the software never got in the way. Both sides did the work.
That’s what keeps us going after all these years: not chasing new logos, but watching a client we’ve worked with for a decade grow into something neither of us imagined at the start. The relationship outlasts the technology, and in our case it usually outlasts the project too. Most of our partnerships ended with the friendship intact.
What we stand for
Twenty-five years of building, distilled into six values, split the way our slogan is. Built right is how we engineer. Built to outlast is how we partner.
Built right: how we engineer
- Quality compounds. Doing it properly is an investment that pays off for years, not a cost. Simple systems that stay easy to maintain beat clever ones that don’t.
- We build it for ourselves first. Every product solves a real problem in our own business before it’s ever offered to a client. By the time it reaches you, it already works.
- Focus beats breadth. We do fewer things, exceptionally well, and put your attention on what actually needs it instead of drowning you in noise.
Built to outlast: how we partner
- No surprises. We work in the open, so you always know where things stand. We finish what we start, and when something goes wrong, you hear it from us first.
- Generous partnership. We let others succeed, even when it costs us something. Fewer clients, deeper partnerships, and a friendship that outlasts the project.
- Freedom for both sides. We stay free to choose our partnerships and give each one real focus. You build on software that’s already proven, so you can move without carrying the risk.
Our team
Bas van Beek, founder and systems architect. Bas sets the architecture and guards the through-line, from the first decision to the partnership that follows. Not because everything should hang on one person (quite the opposite), but because someone has to hold the standard. His story is on the founder page: who he is, and why the company is built the way it is.
Widy, senior developer, alongside BVB Media since 2005. Twenty years of knowledge of every system we’ve ever built.
Monique keeps the books and the business running smoothly behind the scenes.
A lean team by design, built so the quality lives in the systems, not in one person’s head. AI-powered workflows do the rest, so we deliver what you’d expect from a much larger team.
It never rests on one person, and that's by design
It’s the most important question you can ask of a small company. So we built the answer in from the start, not bolted it on afterwards.
The quality doesn’t live in one head. It lives in the system. Every decision is documented, every architecture is readable, and everything we build is set up so someone else could take it over.
And Bas isn’t on his own. Widy has been building alongside us since 2005 and knows every system we’ve ever made. Between us, that’s twenty years of continuity.
It’s simply a healthier way to build, for you and for us.
What our clients say
“In all the years Bas helped us grow, there was never a moment he couldn’t solve the problem.”
“Bas doesn’t work for you, he thinks with you. And he delivers more than you ask for.”
“Rarely met someone with such a combination of technical depth and down-to-earth communication.”
